You have some questions to axe? We're pretty sharp; let us try. |
Is it safe? Although there's risk inherent in most fun activities (including this one), we've built our axe-throwing enclosure to the most stringent possible standards, exceeding even those set by the City of Milwaukee and the National Axe Throwing Federation. We have highly-trained coaches to teach you how to throw (or to improve your form if you've already got some Flinging under your belt).
How does it work? Imagine a batting-cage-like enclosure, but with a large, wooden target at one end. We have specific throwing lines (which only one person at a time is allowed to cross), and scoring depends on the game variety that you and your coach decide on, with variations from frames (similar to bowling) to a dart-like cricket model, where you "close out" the different parts of the target that you're aiming at. Whether you play once or a dozen times, it will always be a different experience! What are the requirements? You need to be at least 14 years old, to be able to safely throw an axe, and to not be impaired by alcohol or other substances. You'll also need closed-toed shoes, a sense of adventure, and the willingness to sign a waiver. Have on high heels (or no shoes)? We've got you covered, and have super-fashionable Crocs available for your use. You have a bar there? It must be chaos! Yes we do and no, it isn't. As a business that for years has offered Milwaukeeans both active play and a full bar, we've come to understand that the vast majority of our customers who are getting a beer or craft cocktail are not here to do kegstands, but to relax with their friends and family. For the rare outliers, we employ bartenders with excellent judgement. Do I need my own axe? Not at all! Most throwers use the axes we have on-site. We have a wide selection of hatchets available, and we understand that not everyone throws the same way. We'll work with you to find which of our blades works the best for your unique throwing style, and let you try out others, too. Can I bring my own axe? Probably! The axe needs to be fully covered in a bag when you bring it past the front counter (since other patrons in our entertainment complex might be a little creeped out by an axe-wielding you walking around). We have Fling embroidered drawstring and storage bags available for purchase at the front desk if you need one, otherwise any old gym bag will do, ideally with a blade guard also attached. Our axe coaches will inspect your axe for safety before throwing, although you assume the liability for its use, and we ask that you keep the axe in the cage enclosure for the duration of your stay. If you're joining us for league play, here are the requirements for an official axe. We'll see you (and your axe!) soon. |
